We are excited to announce that our computer conversion will be finally implemented at the end of February!! Thank You for your patience as we adjust to a “chartless” environment.
We know that this may represent an inconvenience to you as we transition, but are confident that you will love the result. You may have heard on the news
that there is a big push for physician’s offices to switch to a more automated system. The current thinking is that this will streamline healthcare in an efficient manner, and will benefit patients and those who work in doctors offices. Hmmm. We’ll see. I am confident, though, that we will all see benefits at the end of the road…
As I see it, here are my thoughts on electronic medical records as they affect you:
Think about how many times
you have been asked the same question, over and over…allergies, medical history, number and types of surgeries you’ve had, ongoing medical problems…
In a chart, we flip from page to page to page to gather your whole story based on prior visits. With an electronic medical record (EMR), your whole history will be available as a whole picture, not piecemeal. As a result, we will be able to spend more time on your visit, and less time reviewing pertinent but
hard to find information.
Information from your visit to our office can be easily transferred to your primary care physician upon request.
The state of the art EMR automatically alerts us to possible drug interactions when we prescribe new medications for you.
Lab results are received more rapidly because they are sent electronically and not by mail. When you request lab results, we can provide them immediately and mail them as needed.
When you give us
your pharmacy name, we will be able to send prescriptions directly to your pharmacy with a few clicks of a button. That allows your pharmacist to fill the prescription prior to your arrival at the pharmacy.
We will be able to order labs, medication refills or new prescriptions, or make referrals with a few clicks of a mouse.
You medical information will be stored on secure servers in two distinct locations
Again, thank you for your patience. We will always
strive to provide excellent care and stay on the cutting edge of medical technology.
